Mental Health Tech UK

Know what the NHS and MHRA expect before you launch

Independent briefings for founders building digital mental health products in the UK. Regulation, NHS adoption and funding, with the source named every time.

An example briefing, shortened.

NHS England has shortened the DTAC form

From 6 April 2026, the refreshed Digital Technology Assessment Criteria replaced the old form. The main changes:

  • 25% fewer questions
  • Questions duplicating the Data Security and Protection Toolkit removed
  • Overlap with the Medical Device Regulations removed
  • Closer alignment with NICE

More changes are expected as the reviews of the DCB0129 and DCB0160 clinical safety standards continue.

Questions you might have

Is it free?

Yes. Joining the list costs nothing.

What will I receive?

Short briefings by email when a regulation, funding round or NHS process changes in a way that affects mental health products.

Where does the information come from?

Primary sources first, such as GOV.UK, the MHRA, NICE and NHS England. Where we rely on trade press, we say so. Every briefing names its sources.

Is this regulatory or legal advice?

No. Briefings summarise public sources to help you ask better questions. For decisions about your own product, check the original guidance and take professional advice.

Who is behind it?

Mental Health Tech UK is an independent publication. It is not part of, or endorsed by, the NHS, the MHRA or NICE.
